Safety Equipment and Ski Rentals

We have a selection of G3 and K2 telemark and alpine touring ski rentals, and skins for rent at the lodge.  Please view the Mistaya Rental List.

Boots must be rented before arriving in Golden. See options here for recommended rental shops.

We also have safety equipment for rent at the lodge. Shovels, probes, and avalanche transceivers will come with a demonstration and practice before you get out on the slopes! Please contact our office in advance for more details.

Powder Ski Instructor Available

Sandra Birnie is a level 3 ski instructor with years of experience in the powder!

Whether you want to learn how to ski powder, boost your confidence, or hone your skills, help is available. Sandra will be around for a few weeks to help individuals or small groups in the powder.

When Sandra is not scheduled to be at Mistaya Lodge, have her come and join your vacation as your personal ski instructor. Please contact our office for rates and details.

Mountaineering Routes

With an ACMG certified mountain guide there are many options for technical snow, ice, and rock climbing. All of our technical mountaineering routes are led by professional certified guides who must be arranged for well in advance. Please phone or write to discuss your plans and allow us to make arrangements.

Due to the remote location of the lodge and travel time required, a guide hired for these technical routes normally requires the client to guarantee payment for 2 or 3 days of work regardless of whether or not conditions allow the desired routes to be attempted.

Mountaineering Instruction

We can arrange mountaineering climbs, trips, and courses that suit individual abilities from novice to advanced. Every technical mountaineering trip is led by a professional ACMG certified mountain guide, who must be requested for this purpose. Please contact us well in advance of your trip to arrange for employment of a guide.
